Started off with grave expectations, now those hopes are dead and gone

9 or 10 moved out of the city to a house with a front lawn
Lots of pressure on my mother after my father was gone
Seems like sickness started quickly, getting high at punk rock shows
Didn't know it'd progress like this but that is natural I suppose
Just want to be true
Met someone that made me feel valued, she exposed me to the divine
Cashed my chips in way too early, pretty soon I'd lost my mind
Later on my habit was all that I'd want to do with my time
People came and went away and watched my mental health decline
Just want to be true
Now I've started chipping away at what keeps me tied to the cause
Now that I see light in the tunnel, I should not be scared of flaws
